Pilates Mat (all levels)

Cultivate core support and spinal stability by learning how to properly engage and strengthen both inner and outer units. The Pilates method trains the entire body/mind emphasizing connectivity of breath and movement, proper alignment, balance, coordination, and relief from chronic pain & stress. Different props may be used to present stability challenges, ultimately creating well balanced postural tone, and the potential for increased ease and effortlessness in movement. Please go to the contact us page for any questions.

Roll, Stretch & Relax

I created and developed this class to help with the “aches and pains” after working-out, to help manage the negative side effects of stress, and to aid the rest and the recuperation process. It embodies a complete myofascial self-massage and stretch, utilizing aspects of BodyMind Centering™, Experiential Anatomy, and the Franklin Method®. These modalities inform the process of yielding and softening the body into gravity on foam rollers and balls of various sizes and densities. The goal is to become aware of tension (or holding) patterns in posture, to enliven the breath, to soften fascial adhesion and restriction, and to end class feeling relaxed and energized. When this class is incorporated into your daily/weekly regime, you can expect to experience a more supple muscular tone, healthier joint range, improved posture and alignment, and therefore a more functional stretch. Comparable to deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy, this movement meditation will help to reduce stress and muscle tension, enhance quality and experience of movement, while allowing the body to rebuild and recuperate more efficiently. Come to class properly hydrated!! Please go to the contact us page for any questions.

Therapeutic Reformer Saturdays

This reformer class is designed to support optimal functioning of the joints, muscles, and organs. We will always explore how breath supports movement, and therefore posture. Core-support is defined so we not only become better at Pilates; we become better at moving through life. While some might qualify this class as more “restorative”, functional movements (standing, sitting, “bending-over”, squatting, pushing, reaching, and pulling) are added to the classical Pilates repertoire so that what we learn in class is easily applicable to the movements and sensations we create outside the studio. This class is perfect for those who are challenged by conditions like Arthritis, Osteoporosis, Osteopenia, Stenosis, joint replacement, as well as illness, childbirth, or having to sit at a desk all day! You will leave class feeling invigorated, energized, and easy in your body and mind. Please contact instructor prior to your first class.

Intermediate/Advanced Reformer Saturdays

For students who have mastered level I and are comfortable with the reformer repertoire, as well as terms like spinal flexion, spinal extension, and neutral spine. Exercise transitions, class flow and pace are all emphasized. We strive to become more balanced while challenging how mobile our stability can be. With commitment and consistency, you will notice marked improvements in integrated strength, flexibility, breath capacity, and body awareness. Tower work is integrated throughout class. Intermediate level and above, with Instructor approval.

African Drumming and Movement

The human body has an amazing ability to protect, regenerate, and heal itself. For thousands of years people from many cultures have used breath, directed movement, vibration, rhythm, relaxation, and imagery to stimulate and support the body’s natural healing process. Movement and rhythmic messages impact our vitality by affecting heart rate, blood pressure, muscular activity, and numerous functions of the immune system. Come and learn to use the language of the body to expand the healing relationship between the mind and body. Just bring yourself and be ready for relaxation and fun! (With Patricia Frame MA ((Music Therapy)). Please go to the contact us page for any questions.

BoneSmart® Pilates

Did you know that one out of every two women over the age of 50 has low bone density (either Osteopenia or osteoporosis)? With adults over the age of 60 representing the fastest growing population segment in the U.S., everyone should understand how the risks and needs of the aging body change over time. For those who have Osteopenia or osteoporosis: average abdominal exercises might be completely undermining your health and longevity!

Come learn strategies to strengthen and stabilize the spine, and to reverse the effects of low bone density (namely forward-bending posture). This information is fun and easy to apply to every-day life. Please go to the contact us page for any questions.
